Today was the Battling Childhood Obesity Boot Camp Challenge to help raise funds for Louies Kids! I have been so excited about this since I first decided to start planning it. This is obviously something I am passionate about and I couldn’t wait to help do a little something for the cause.
This was the first of what I hope to be many fitness fundraisers I hold in Charleston… and as the first one I learned a lot. What to do and what not to do. We had a small turnout, and I won’t lie…. it was cold! But overall it was a great experience.
The workout was filled with my favorite exercises: Push-ups, sprints, jumps, lunges, and more. I think everyone left satisfied knowing they had a great total body workout for their Saturday morning!
Congrats to Jeanette who won the raffle! I know she was on her way to Whole Foods today to cash in on the $100 gift card.
I want to thank all the sponsors who helped with the event… Heads Up You Win Salon (Kasie Bean), Green Lion Gifts, Doolittles, Wonder Works, and of course Whole Foods!
I love helping out the Charleston Community so I am already brainstorming my next Battling Boot Camp!
I NEED YOUR HELP THIS SATURDAY!
One out of every five children today are considered obese, and out of these kids at least 80% will grow up to be obese adults.
The biggest factor thought to contribute to a child’s size and health? Parental obesity… this is why I need your help!
On Saturday, February 27, 2010 I will be teaming up with Louie’s Kids of Charleston, News Channel 4 and several other local partners to hold the Battling Children’s Obesity Boot Camp Challenge. This is a one-day fitness workout for moms (and all women) to come out and support the cause. Children are welcome to participate and/or watch as you set a terrific example. Fitness starts with you!
The Boot Camp Challenge will include a one-hour fun fitness workout, food and water post workout, and the camaraderie of other women fighting the battle against childhood obesity in our state.
All proceeds will be donated to Louie’s Kids, a Charleston based non-profit charity helping to “Stop Childhood Obesity One Kid At A Time”.
If just helping out and getting a great workout in isn’t enough… There will be a drawing held after the workout with amazing prizes including a $100 gift card from Whole Foods, free hair cut from Heads You Win Salon, $200 gift card from Taylor’s Fat Blasting Boot Camp and much more!
